Along side the new DS4 model, DS4 Purple concept, the Berlingo HDi hybrid version e-HDI, the new WRC DS3, and two other concepts derived from unpublished material, Citroen has brought to Geneva the concept called Metropolis, a car that looks like it was created in the Batman movies, or at least in some that talk about super natural powers. The first images of the concept seem to have attracted quite a lot of sympathy, because of the length and the design of this super car concept.
The sedan was introduced for the first time at the Shanghai Auto Show and could be the starting point in the future DS9. Metropolis Citroen concept car is based on the same platform as the C6 and Peugeot 508, looking very similar to the Peugeot 607 in matter of design.
The model has a length of 5.3 meters and a width of 2.0 meters, while its height is only 1.4 meters. If the width and length commands ask for respect in the model luxury sedans class, the low height is ensuring a sporty and aggressive look for the Metropolis concept, making it very unique. Some say that it does not really fit to a certain class with the above mentioned design terms.
The concept is powered by a hybrid powertrain, which is provided by a V6 engine of 272 hp and 375 Nm, and an electric motor that can provide up to 95 hp. Moreover, the model is reaching the maximum power up to 460 hp thanks to the "overboost" similar to the power of a 4.0-liter V8 engine. Good things for speed and power passionate, if they would like to buy such a French automaker creation. Because of its train the Metropolis model has a couple of driving hybrid plug-in. So the model can operate in several ways:
1. fully electric: at start up, in urban, low speed and during deceleration, due to an electric motor that continuously develops 55 hp (40 kW) and having a peak of 95 hp (70 kW).
2. Internal Combustion: constant speeds on roads and highways, when 2-liter V6 petrol, which develops 272 hp (200 kW) and 375 Nm of torque), reaches maximum efficiency.
3. combined with two engines: during acceleration, for more power (function "overboost"), the car develops maximum output of 460 hp (345 kW) and 430 Nm of torque and all-wheel drive mode for improved adherence.
